Shimpo RK-55

The SHIMPO RK-55 is a lightweight, portable, belt-driven pottery wheel designed for smooth and reliable throwing. It features a 100-watt reversible motor, electronic speed controller, and a speed range of 0–250 RPM, providing steady control and torque across different throwing conditions. Its 300 mm (11.8”) wheelhead has a centering capacity of up to 12 kg of clay, making it suitable for a wide range of pottery projects.

The RK-55 is designed for comfortable operation, with a remote foot pedal that allows smooth speed adjustment while accommodating different throwing positions. Its reversible rotation makes it suitable for both left- and right-handed potters, while the automatic belt-tensioning system helps maintain consistent drive performance without frequent manual adjustment.

For convenience, the wheel includes a two-piece splash pan that can be removed for easy cleaning, as well as a built-in workspace around the wheelhead. A built-in breaker protects the motor from overload, while the specially designed motor brushes help keep operation quiet and smooth.

The RK-55 has a sturdy construction while remaining relatively portable, measuring approximately 560 W × 720 D × 540 H mm and weighing 23 kg.
